Scientists have discovered that Renaissance artists such as Leonardo da Vinci and Sandro Botticelli mixed egg yolk with oil paint to make paintings resist moisture and crack or yellow. Experts have found that adding eggs to oil paintings prevents the paint from breaking down. Perhaps, thanks to this, the canvases were able to survive in good condition until our time.
