The first ever planetary asteroid defense test has been successfully completed.

NASA has calculated and rechecked all results from the DART probe's impact with the asteroid Dimorphos last September. The orbit of the celestial body changed by 33 minutes - this is quite enough to move such an asteroid away from the Earth if something happens.
