In 2021, the amount of drug seized in the country doubled compared to last year, according to Ecuadorian police data. Due to the lack of space to store it in police warehouses, the authorities decided to send packages of seized cocaine to processing plants. There, the drug is mixed with cement, sand and water for further use in the construction of buildings.
