The ancient fortress of Gaziantep in southern Turkey partially collapsed due to a powerful earthquake of magnitude 7.4 that hit the country on the night of February 6. The object is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The fortress is more than 2.2 thousand years old. The city of Gaziantep, in which it is located, was located between ancient Mesopotamia and the Mediterranean at the crossroads of the Great Silk Road.Initially, the castle on a hill was built as an observation post. Later it was strengthened and expanded. The circumference of the structure is 1.2 kilometers, there are 12 towers along its perimeter. There was a military museum on the territory of the castle.
