Californian inventors have created a robot that grows like a vine.

Charles Xiao of the University of California at Santa Barbara and his colleagues came up with a device about 2 meters long with dozens of segments. The robot imitates the process of growing a vine growing under the rays of the sun. The new technology could be used to create smart hoses that approach a burning building or wildfire. They will allow you to extinguish the fire autonomously without the need for expensive and complex electronics.
