France launched a delivery service for ugly vegetables.

February 6, 2023

In Toulouse, they launched a delivery service for fruits and vegetables that do not hit the shelves because of their unaesthetic appearance. These are small products of irregular shape or imperfect color. This is how they plan to reduce food waste. The service still makes a profit: thanks to cheap purchases and the absence of intermediaries. Already in the first month of operation, BeneBono began to make about a hundred deliveries a week. There is a similar initiative in Denmark. For several years now, ugly vegetables and fruits have been sold in supermarkets at a discount. Thanks to this, 370 tons of tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots and other products did not end up in a landfill or compost.
