Scientists have created the first artificial black hole.

It is not entirely natural - with the help of a chain of atoms, only the event horizon was recreated. However, the discovery is fundamental - finally, the presence of Hawking radiation around black holes has been experimentally confirmed. This means that there are chances to finally connect classical physics with quantum physics.
