The sidewalks of the future will turn steps into electrical energy.

As pedestrians walk through the Pavegen system, the weight from their footsteps presses on electromagnetic generators, producing 2 to 4 joules of off-grid electrical energy per step. Bluetooth low energy beacons connect to smartphone apps. It can also interact with building management systems. It is a pure form of energy that is lost when we walk on a plain concrete pavement. Pavegen is created from triangular composite tiles that are supported by electromagnetic generators.
