Today, November 15, the world's population officially exceeded 8 billion people, according to the UN. The organization predicts that the world's population could grow to around 8.5 billion in 2030 and to 9.7 billion in 2050. It will peak at about 10.4 billion people in the 2080s and remain at that level until 2100. More than half of the projected global population growth by 2050 will be concentrated in eight countries: Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines and the United Republic of Tanzania.
