A new type of antibiotic against treatment-resistant bacteria has emerged.

Swedish scientists have developed GmPcides, a new type of antibiotic that kills even treatment-resistant bacteria. Including gram-positive microorganisms that cause nosocomial infections. The drug can be combined with other drugs. Experiments have shown that new antibiotics not only stop the division of microbes, but also kill them. GmPcides are also effective against vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE). This type of bacteria is recognized by the American Center for Disease Control as a major threat to global health.
