Scientists have reconstructed the genome of the common ancestor of all mammals.

All modern mammals descended from one common ancestor that lived about 180 million years ago and probably looked like Morganucodon, an ancient extinct animal. With the help of computer technology, an international team of researchers was able to reconstruct the genome of this creature. The results of the study will help to better understand the evolution of mammals and save modern animals.
