They are confirmed to be able to easily dodge blows due to the special structure of their eyes. Unlike humans, the eyes of flies can distinguish not 60, but about 250 flashes of light per second. But the lion's share of evasiveness comes from the hairs - they are able to feel changes in air currents. Therefore, even turning off the light does not help and it is best to use traps.
