In the ocean, they found tons of sugar that no one suspected

Scientists have discovered that seaweed meadows at the bottom of the ocean store huge amounts of sucrose, the main ingredient in sugar. These stocks could have a major impact on global climate change, the researchers say. The sucrose is released from the algae into the soil below them, in the area affected by the roots. Thus, the concentration of sugar at the bottom can be about 80 times higher than in ordinary soil. Globally, seaweed can contain up to 1.3 million tons of sucrose, according to researchers. This amount is enough for 32 billion cans of Coca-Cola.
