China Tests Floating Solar Platform

October 30, 2024

The Chinese have started testing a wave-resistant solar power plant that can be situated far from the coast. The structure consists of 434 panels and is designed to withstand waves up to 10 meters high, remaining in place with the help of several anchors. The idea is for such platforms to float alongside offshore wind turbines, avoiding the use of valuable land space. The trials will last a year, after which engineers will assess efficiency and make adjustments if necessary.
